MODALITIES

Comprehensive Resource Model

We are trained in the Comprehensive Resource Model® (CRM), a trauma-processing modality that includes a sophisticated scaffolding of resourcing. This helps allow us to explore material that is the most painful while providing enough brain-body safety to make it seem manageable and tolerable.

The overall goal of this model is to increase the connection to self, to our highest selves, parts of ourselves we may not understand, and to self in the presence of others. In our first sessions together, we may be providing education on both this model and the nervous system so that you have a solid understanding of what it is we will be doing together (if we determine this modality is right for you).

Deep Brain Reorienting

DBR (Deep Brain Reorienting) is a trauma processing psychotherapy that tracks the original physiological sequence that occurs when the deep brain was first alerted to a threat or attachment disruption. It aims to work with deeper brain structures in the hindbrain and midbrain.

We can use DBR to process through the shock and the emotions of a traumatic or threatening event. The term shock in DBR is related to the alarm that goes off in your brain when you perceive a threat (which differs from the medical definition of physiological shock). Unhealed shock residue can contribute to a variety of mental health struggles. You can think of unprocessed shock as an amplifier, so when it is processed and cleared, one will ideally be able to feel the emotion as it is without the amplification sending the nervous system into overwhelm or dissociation. Shock can also be in response to relational trauma. DBR can also help to access and heal core aloneness pain that is often at the root of traumatic attachment experiences.

DBR therapy focuses on noticing and being with sensations in the body and emotions, rather than trying to cognitively process the issue or memory.

Art Therapy

Art mirrors our life and provides what can feel like a safer way to explore ourselves. Art therapy also offers additional integration of experiences by bringing in non-verbal elements like images, shapes, and colors. All levels of experience are welcome. Our art therapists, Carly and Julie, can assist you in exploring feelings that once felt untouchable in a loving and supportive environment.
